What ideas / questions / reflections / challenges might be arising as you work with your theme (theme) – How are you working with the meaning of your word? Where are you drawing inspiration from?

I was given emerge as my prompt. It made me think of a butterfly emerging from a cocoon and us as we emerge post-peak of the pandemic.

How were you introduced to art? Was it someone, a class, a culture, family, friends, etc.?

I enjoyed art classes in school growing up.

What role does art play in your life today? How has art made you feel these past few months / year / during the pandemic?

I really got into making mail art during the pandemic. It has been fun to make new friends around the world and swap art (mostly postcards and ATCs). I especially enjoy making gelli printed, stenciled, and painted papers for collage. Art has helped me escape the feelings of loneliness and mail art has helped me feel more connected to others.
