What ideas / questions / reflections / challenges might be arising as you work with your theme (theme) – How are you working with the meaning of your word? Where are you drawing inspiration from?
I am wondering about how I might work with the theme “emerge” as a metaphor. And also, how does this word/theme relate to others I am currently exploring. These are related to the natural world and also my own inner process of emerging from a long and generative teaching career into being a full-time artist.
How were you introduced to art? Was it someone, a class, a culture, family, friends, etc.?
I have been making art ever since I can remember. My father and mother were very supportive and provided me with materials and space from the time I was very little.
What role does art play in your life today? How has art made you feel these past few months / year / during the pandemic?
Having retired from teaching in June of 2020, I have taken a deep dive into daily studio practice. I was able to devote myself to a major project during the past year which is ongoing. This project entitled “Stories of our Foremothers” continues to emerge and grow in different directions.
